I think it's time to transition to Python 3.14 as our default Python version. The transition tracker already exists, link above. Ubuntu's migration has just completed. There are still a number of packages missing Python 3.14 support: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?users=debian-python@lists.debian.org&tag=python3.14 But it doesn't look too bad. Stefano
Nice, keep in mind that kdevelop is somewhat abandoned and hasn't been updated in over a year, so I would downgrade 1127041. Best Il giorno mer 11 mar 2026 alle ore 01:23 Stefano Rivera <stefanor@debian.org> ha scritto:
Hi, Care to elaborate what you are expecting? Once this transition starts that bug becomes RC and needs fixing or otherwise the package will be removed from testing. Paul
Control: block -1 by 1127767 Some of the packages involved in this transition are also involved in the Qt 6.10 transition. So let's at least wait until Qt 6.10 is done. Cheers
Qt 6.10 is done, but this transition is currently blocked by abseil (#1127773), llvm-toolchain-21, which depends on llvm-toolchain-22, which fails its own autokgtests (#1130893) and llvm-toolchain-19, which cannot built on s390x (#1125251).
Hi Stefano llvm-toolchain-19 finally migrated on 2026-06-21, and with that, the old libabsl20240722 libraries were removed from testing. Are you available to start this transition in the next few days? I'd like to see some of the ongoing transitions finish up, the main one being ocaml, and then we can go ahead. Regards Graham
Hi Graham (2026.06.24_09:00:19_+0000) Yes, I'm available. Stefano
Control: tags -1 confirmed ocaml and qt5 are done, let's go ahead with this. Cheers, Emilio
Hi Emilio (2026.06.27_12:40:41_+0000) python3-defaults 3.14.6-1 uploaded. Stefano
I have scheduled the first round of binNMUs. Cheers, Emilio
