I upgraded to the latest version, the first using Gtk4

The main windows rendered the PDF, but an empty icon was displayed in place of
the thumbnail.
* What outcome did you expect instead?
A thumbnail of the page should have been displayed, just like in the previous
version.

I can confirm this problem in version 49~alpha-2, it is a recent regression that only started occurring after an apt-upgrade. (Between this and the scroll wheel zoom issue, this alpha seems to have quite a few problems -- I am somewhat surprised to see that an alpha version has been propagated all the way to testing.) I think most people would be better off using papers instead of evince. But the thumbnail issue might be more because of the apparmor profile than the gtk4 update. See https://bugs.debian.org/1127935 Thank you, Jeremy Bícha
