  Programming Lang: Rust
  Description : Voice-to-text with push-to-talk

Push-to-talk voice-to-text for Linux. Optimized for Wayland, works on X11 too.

Hold a hotkey (default: ScrollLock) while speaking, release to
transcribe and output the text at your cursor position.

Homepage: https://voxtype.io/

This is already packaged in Arch
(https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/voxtype) and NixOS
(https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/blob/master/pkgs/by-name/vo/voxtype/package.nix).

As it is Rust and I don't have experience packaging Rust, I'd rather
leave this to somebody in the Rust team if there are anyone
interested.

Hi,

Following up on own message again: It seems Ubuntu developers started
a new project to bring easy to use speech-to-text dictation called
"Myna".

I haven't tested it myself, but I saw it promoted at
https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2026/09/ubuntu-myna-ai-install. I wasn't
able to find the source code - the .deb packages are of format "3.0
quilt" but there is no debian/upstream/metadata nor any Homepage or
Vcs-Git fields in the debian/control file.
