Hi,

uuid-runtime ships a sysvinit script for uuidd. This is not
well-supported upstream anymore and has some extra build-time
complication in src:util-linux. I'll drop the init script from the
uuid-runtime package.

I -guess- that not very many sysvinit users will care about uuidd,
but maybe they do.

Consider including the last init script in orphan-sysvinit-scripts.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the heads up!

I tend to think initscripts are better owned by distributions rather
than upstreams, for various reasons.

I propose a fresh initscript for uuid - would be grateful if you
could consider including it to replace the upstream one:

https://salsa.debian.org/debian/util-linux/-/merge_requests/45

Is it the generation of content in the debian directory that caused the
unwanted complications? I wonder if this solution avoids that?

Thanks,

Andrew
