Dear mentors,

I noticed that rust-bcrypt was lagging behind upstream and is
currently listed for adoption (RFA) on the WNPP list
(https://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/rfa_bypackage).
I have updated the package to version 0.19.0, refreshed the packaging,
and I am submitting this as an ITA (Intend to Adopt) to take over its
maintenance.
I've already prepared the update to ensure compatibility with the
current unstable ecosystem.

Hi Alessandro,

For Rust team packages, you should try following the team's sponsorship procedure. In short, create an empty src/bcrypt/debian/RFS and ask for someone to review in #debian-rust on IRC or on the debian-rust ML.

Hi Mytham,

I created the requested change (including the empty
src/bcrypt/debian/RFS file) in my fork, but I’m unable to open a merge
request against the upstream repository on Salsa.
It seems I don’t have the required permissions.

Do you know how to enable it?

Thanks

Hi Alessandro,

You should be able to do it while logged in; at least I've been able to
do so several times in the past.
