Dear maintainer,

I am experiencing a pretty bad bug when printing documents, where some fonts
become basically entirely unreadable. The bug is not present in papers 50.2 via
flatpak. Would be great to get an updated version in Debian itself so hopefully
I won't need a flatpak to properly print documents. :)

Yes, papers 50 requires rust-geo which itself requires several other
rust packages that aren't packaged in Debian yet.

It might be possible to temporarily revert the new ink and/or
annotations features to enable updating the package, but people are
going to wonder why those major features aren't available in Debian's
version 50 or 51.

1. I was expecting some information reg. this on
https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/papers. (rust-transition etc), but there
wasn't.

2. I see ubuntu 26.04 at papers version 50.x. (
https://packages.ubuntu.com/source/resolute/papers). Am I missing something?

No, this bug is the place where this information should have been.
Sorry that we didn't update this bug sooner.

Ubuntu's policy for rust apps included in Ubuntu main (includes
anything in the default Ubuntu Desktop or Ubuntu Server installs plus
a bit more) is that the rust apps must be "vendored". This is in
contrast to Debian best practice where individual rust dependencies
are packaged separately. This means that the Rust apps in Ubuntu main
generally won't be blocked by an issue like this where some Rust
dependencies are not packaged yet.
