After an hour or so of editing a large image (without intermediate saving), GIMP crashed. In the xterm from which GIMP was started we saw then

gimp: fatal error: Bus-Zugriffsfehler
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gimp/3.0/plug-ins/script-fu/script-fu: fatal error: GIMP crashed

[1] + exit 1 gimp filename.png

I can't provide filename.png – it contains private data.

The journal contains nothing exciting except, perhaps, the following messages containing yellow warnings:

Apr 24 21:48:58 ServerName gnome-shell[3480]: 0x3000014 (username@ServerName: /media/an_NTFS_drive/working_dir): Frame has assigned frame counter but no frame drawn time
…
Apr 24 21:51:18 ServerName gnome-shell[3480]: Failed to get METAR data: Zeitüberschreitung bei Ein-/Ausgabeoperation des Sockets
…
Apr 24 21:50:13 ServerName gnome-shell[3480]: value "nan" of type 'gdouble' is invalid or out of range for property 'value' of type 'gdouble'

dmesg shows nothing interesting, except, perhaps, a much earlier

The boot was at Apr 20 01:16:19 according to the journal and the crash on Apr 24 around 21:50-22:00 local time.

There is no ~/.xsession-errors.

When I restarted GIMP, recovery was NOT offered.

I use linux-image-6.12.74+deb13+1-amd64.
