Dear maintainer(s),

I noticed that package hmmer2-doc recommends xpdf-reader, which is
currently not available in unstable:

See:

Because it returns 404, I don't think that xpdf-reader has ever been in
Debian? or perhaps long time ago.

The current recommends is: "xpdf-reader | pdf-viewer"

As far as I know, it should recommend a concrete package (e.g. okular,
or some other non-dependency heavy?) and then the virtual package
(pdf-viewer).

Would it make sense to remove or update it?

Thank you for your time,

Hi Carles, thank you for your report,

it looks like the package does not need a PDF reader anymore for more
than a decade, so I will just remove the whole recommendation.

Also, I see that the size of hmmer2 is 314 kB and hmmer2-doc is 97 kB;
it does not seem that splitting the packages is worth the effort anymore
in 2026. While preparing an update, I propose to just merge them if
nobody objects.

Have a nice day,

Charles
