 A few utility functions that other scverse packages use.

 I'm packaging this because python-anndata >=0.12.11 depends on it,
 and anndata is a pretty important interchange format for
 bioinformatics.

 As it's primarly intended to be used with https://scverse.org/
 software I'm planning on adding it to the med-team.
