#1138813 src:sphinx-gallery: <!nocheck> build dependency removed from testing

Dear maintainer(s),

Earlier this month, src:statsmodels was removed from testing because its
Build-Depends have unresolved RC bugs. src:sphinx-gallery at the time
was *not* removed because it's a key package *and* has annotated
binaries from src:sphinx-gallery as <!nocheck>, see also [1]. This
should mean that src:sphinx-gallery could drop those build dependencies
(at the price of no or limited testing). I'm going to hint
sphinx-gallery through for now, but either please drop the tests that
require statmodels binaries now or keep an eye on the situation and drop
them later when it takes too long to get the statsmodels situation fixed.

Hi,

I was made aware of a bug in this bug report. The Build-Depends is
annotated with <!nodoc> instead of <!nocheck>.

Hi Paul,

None of the mentioned packages are in the key set currently.
So I guess you can just remove your hint and close this bug.
Then #1141040 will also autoremove sphinx-gallery.

I.e., I do not think this is a bug in sphinx-gallery.

Thanks,
Bastian

Hi Bastian,
Hmm, I see `Build-Depends: python3-statsmodels <!nodoc>` in sphinx-gallery.
statsmodels has been removed from testing, am I missing something ? Maybe I
don't understand what you mean by "key set"?

From what I can see, there's a bunch of r-* packages that got removed from
testing, which caused statsmodels to be removed from testing.

PS: seems like Rebecca (in CC) is actively working on statsmodels,
hopefully we will get it back soon.

Cheers!

Chris

Hi Bastian,

OK, I failed to read your message properly. The description in #1141040
makes perfect sense now I looked at that bug.

Apologies for the noise.

Cheers!

Hi Bastian,

Indeed, very recently sphinx-gallery was removed from the key package set.

My hint is already long gone, right after sphinx-gallery migrated.

Why?

No, because the autoremoval script isn't aware that the autoremoval of
sphinx-gallery at the time didn't happen. And because bug 1141040
according to the bts only affects unstable, autoremoval doesn't kick in.

This bug is about spinx-gallery not being build-able (in testing), which
is still true.
