Dear maintainer: During a rebuild of all packages in unstable, this package failed to build. Below you will find the last part of the build log (probably the most relevant part, but not necessarily). If required, the full build log is available here: https://people.debian.org/~sanvila/build-logs/202606/ About the archive rebuild: The build was made on virtual machines from AWS, using sbuild and a reduced chroot with only build-essential packages. Note: The bug happens randomly, but more than 50% of the time here. If you cannot reproduce the bug please contact me privately, as I am willing to provide ssh access to a virtual machine where this randomness happens. If this is really a bug in one of the build-depends, please use reassign and add an affects on src:terraphast, so that this is still visible in the BTS web page for this package. Hello, Bug #1139550 in terraphast reported by you has been fixed in the Git repository and is awaiting an upload. You can see the commit message below and you can check the diff of the fix at: https://salsa.debian.org/med-team/terraphast/-/commit/ed32ca4ddd5f632b1ca2346e06a608920e01fa57 When the multitree memory limit is hit, begin_iteration() returns an unexplored node because the alternative array could not be allocated, but continue_iteration() still returned true (the memory accounting was below the limit). The iteration loop then called accumulate() on the unexplored node, writing a full multitree_node (including a GMP big_integer) into the leaf array of the unexplored node. This corrupted the heap and could abort with a 'realloc(): invalid pointer' inside GMP, making the unittests fail randomly (FTBFS). Mark the memory limit as hit whenever begin_iteration() has to fall back to an unexplored node so that continue_iteration() stops the iteration. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (this message was generated automatically) -- Greetings https://bugs.debian.org/1139550
We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of
terraphast, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive.
A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is
attached.
Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 1139550@bugs.debian.org,

Changes:
terraphast (0.1.0+dfsg-2) unstable; urgency=medium
.
* Fix heap corruption when the multitree memory limit is reached
(Closes: #1139550)
* c-api: fix out-of-bounds write in the c_api_error_num_partitions test
* site_gen: fix root species off-by-one that could generate data with
sites lacking any occurrence, aborting validated_run
* debian/tests: fix run-unit-test autopkgtest; generate test data with
the installed tools instead of referencing non-installed examples
* debian/tests: add a test using the real-world Meusemann insect
phylogenomics dataset (bundled in debian/tests/data, with origin
documented in debian/tests/README)
* No need for dh-exec
* Reformat the Last-Update date as ISO YYYY-MM-DD.
* Remove redundant Priority: optional from source stanza.
* Update standards version to 4.7.4, no changes needed.
* Set upstream metadata fields: Bug-Database, Repository.
* cme fix dpkg-control
