I intend to orphan the yajl package.  It has been a long time since I've been
able to maintain this package properly.

Additionally, upstream development appears to be dead, and as far as I can see
there is not any consensus about what fork to migrate to.  See for example

The package description is:
 A small, fast library for parsing JavaScript Object Notation (JSON).  It
 supports incremental parsing from a stream and leaves data representation to
 higher level code.
