Dear maintainers,

There is a new release of xdg/shared-mime-info out, version 2.5.1, released
today (29 Jun 2026). Please could the Debian package be updated when it's
convenient?

Dear Debian devs -

Of note for Debian maintainers who might be making a 2.5.1 release: building
the release tarball by itself will fail. There was a decision upstream to
move the xdgmime test dependency to a submodule, and (as yet), the
dependency is not captured in the release tarball.

The solution, if you are building from release tarballs, is to build and
install without tests.
