Hi Stefan,

I would be interested in helping with safe-hole-perl, following the
Package Salvaging procedure outlined in the Developers Reference[1].
From what I see, the package seems to meet the criteria for this
process, and I'd like to support keeping it maintained in Debian. As the
Salvage process suggests, here is a list of the criteria that I believe
apply:

  - NMU
  - Bugs filed against the package do not have answers from the
    maintainer.
  - Upstream has released several versions
  - There are QA issues with the package.

I believe the package would be a great addition to the Debian Perl
Group, and I took the liberty to create the Salsa repository here[2].
You might have noticed that I renamed the source package from
safe-hole-perl to libsafe-hole-perl to follow the Perl Group policy (and
so also the repository is named libsafe-hole-perl). This also means
that I will do the upload via NEW queue. I would care for removing the
old source package name from unstable later.

If you choose not to accept the ITS, I'd be more than happy to help you
move it to another location, such as debian/, or wherever you prefer.
Since the Perl team has set ACLs to grant push permissions to every DD
you should not have any trouble to work with the repository, thought.

This package was highlighted in the Bug of the Day[3] initiative, which
aims to introduce newcomers to manageable tasks and guide them through
the workflow to solve them. The focus of this initiative is on migrating
packages to Salsa, as it's a great way to help newcomers become familiar
with a consistent Git-based workflow.

Kind regards
    Andreas.

Hi Stefan,

since the ITS bug was pending today I just uploaded to delayed=10.
After doing so I realised that you confirmed migrating your other Perl
packages to the Perl team and I probably could have skipped the formal
delay required by the ITS procedure. Anyway, due to the change of the
source package name which is a change that's not so easy to revert it
makes sense to be carefully. Finally DFSG team is very speedy these
days and 10 extra days do not really matter. ;-)

Please let me know if I misunderstood you and I should rather cancel
the upload.

Kind regards
    Andreas.
