I want to help improve simple-scan's packaging for Debian. I am
beginning the Package Salvaging procedure described in the Developers
Reference[1]. simple-scan seems to meet the criteria for this process,
and I'd like to support keeping it maintained in Debian. As the
Salvage process
suggests, here is a list of the criteria that I believe apply:

- Upstream has released several versions, but despite there being a
bug entry asking for it, it has not been packaged.

- There is no visible activity regarding the package for six months

I propose that simple-scan be transferred to the Debian GNOME team.

I have followed the next step [1] in the Package Salvaging process. I
have now uploaded simple-scan 50.0-1 to the DELAYED-7 queue.

For convenience, I am also attaching patches for my commits (except
for the gbp import-orig --uscan step).
