Dear mentors, I am looking for a sponsor for my package "vzlogger": * Package name : vzlogger Version : 0.8.10-1 Upstream contact : Joachim Zobel <jz-2017@heute-morgen.de> * URL : http://wiki.volkszaehler.org/software/controller/vzlogger * License : GPL-3 * Vcs : https://github.com/volkszaehler/vzlogger Section : net The source builds the following binary packages: vzlogger - program to read measurements from smart meters and log them to Influxdb or forward them via MQTT. This release packages a new upstream version. The feature most relevant to users is in the tpic. You can download the package with dget -x http://www.heute- morgen.de/debian/repo/unstable/main/source/net/vzlogger_0.8.10-1.dsc Regards, -- Joachim Zobel
Hi Jochim, Please upload to packages to mentors as mentors has some useful QA. - there are undocumented changes in d/changelog. - some entries in d/changelog should explain the why, not the what. For example the change from Marc Haber is not clear to me, why this changes, as the package is only produces arch:any packages? - there are some B-Ds with version constraints that are fullfilled since a long time (even older than bookworm), drop those version constraints, if they are fulfilled since oldstable) - (nitpick) Standard-Version is d/control: It is enough to specify 3 digits. - (nitpick) d/copyright years (debian portion) Cheers, tobi them relevant to
Hi, thanks for reviewing the package. I agree with your judgement and would even suggest doing Debian development on Salsa to allow salsa-ci being used for the package. Joachim, I can help with that if you want to. That allows to build the source package without having the full set of build-depends installed. So one can build the source package with a smaller system and then proceed to sbuild the source package. Greetings Marc

The problem that there is a vzlogger upstream packaging will however stay around for some time (until vzlogger reaches oldstable at least, we (vzlogger) are currently still packaging for bullseye). Hi Joachim, Upstream packaging can be in the upstream branches with no problem, many packages are also published by the upstream authors. I think that gbp import-orig cleans out debian/ when doing an import. I would take https://optimizedbyotto.com/post/debian-packaging-from-git/ as instructions as you're starting anew anyway. Maybe you would also commit an git rm -r debian/ between the two git checkout -b calls. I do not have experience with that but I would take a look at your repository before you upload. Do you want me to create debian/vzlogger on salsa and to give you privileges, or are you a DD yourself? If you want me to help here, just give me your salsa username. Greetings Marc

Hi, without a salsa ci result, I must do way more testing, which I cannot do in the next seven days. If somebody else wants to sponsor the upload, I'll hapilly stap aside. Also I dont see the package on mentors, but I might be holding the web page wrong, I don't have any experience with that. You did upload to mentors as Tobi asked you, didnt you? Greetings Marc
