I have prepared a QA upload of laptop-detect to DELAYED/15 to orphan the
package.

This follows the guidance recently posted by the MIA team on
debian-project regarding packages maintained by Debian Contributors who
were active only for a relatively short period and have shown no Debian
activity for many years:

https://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2026/07/msg00030.html

The maintainer (CCed) was active only during 2017 and, as far as I can
tell, has had no Debian activity since then. The package itself,
however, is still useful (its popularity has continued to grow and is
now close to 27,000 according to popcon), so removal does not appear
appropriate. Orphaning it instead should make its maintenance status
explicit and hopefully attract a new maintainer.

The upload has been sent to DELAYED/15 to provide ample opportunity for
the maintainer to object. If the maintainer responds and wishes to
continue maintaining the package, I will cancel the upload.

The package description is:
This package provides a simple shell script which attempts to determine
whether it is being run on a laptop (or similar portable machine). It is
 mainly useful for installers.

I can try to handle the maintenance individually, but I'd prefer to do it collectively.

Thank you for your prompt response which proves my assumption you might
be missing in action wrong. That's why I revert the QA upload to
delayed and I'm happy I used the delayed queue.

Please inspect this commit

which refers to Debian Commons maintenance

I think this implements what you wrote below. Please let me know if you want
me to upload this.

Kind regards and thank you for maintaining laptop-detect
    Andreas.

Since my assumption that this package can be orphaned I'm hereby closing
this bug.

Kind regards

Nice! Thanks for keeping Debian healthy. I will close the old repository and point it to the Salsa repository.
