This project was abandoned upstream 10+ years ago with this message: https://github.com/bmizerany/assert "NO LONGER MAINTAINED - Just use Go's testing package." We should not ship it in forky or testing. Alas it has dependencies in Debian: golang-github-bitly-go-simplejson golang-github-bmizerany-pat golang-github-hailocab-go-hostpool golang-github-fluent-fluent-logger-golang hub I'm working on uploading fixed versions of those packages, but there is no reason to not start the testing removal process of golang-github-bmizerany-assert now. /Simon

It has no remaining reverse dependencies in Debian. https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/golang-github-bmizerany-assert The upstream project was declared unmaintained ~10 years ago: https://github.com/bmizerany/assert "NO LONGER MAINTAINED - Just use Go's testing package." I don't think it is useful to keep this package in Debian. /Simon jas@frallan:~/dpkg$ ssh mirror.ftp-master.debian.org dak rm -Rn golang-github-bmizerany-assert Will remove the following packages from unstable: golang-github-bmizerany-assert | 0.0~git20160611.b7ed37b-1 | source golang-github-bmizerany-assert-dev | 0.0~git20160611.b7ed37b-1 | all Maintainer: Debian Go Packaging Team <pkg-go-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org>------------------- Reason ----------------------------------------------------------------- Checking reverse dependencies... We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following package(s) have been removed from unstable: golang-github-bmizerany-assert | 0.0~git20160611.b7ed37b-1 | source golang-github-bmizerany-assert-dev | 0.0~git20160611.b7ed37b-1 | all------------------- Reason ------------------- ROTeamM; unmaintained and unused ---------------------------------------------- Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug. The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next dinstall run at the earliest. Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is really needed, please contact them if this should be the case. We try to close bugs which have been reported against this package automatically. But please check all old bugs, if they were closed correctly or should have been re-assigned to another package. Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you have further comments please address them to 1143916@bugs.debian.org. The full log for this bug can be viewed at https://bugs.debian.org/1143916 This message was generated automatically; if you believe that there is a problem with it please contact the archive administrators by mailing ftpmaster@ftp-master.debian.org.
