(This may be the wrong package to report the bug against.?)

My fingers are used to install/remove the "linux-image-rt-amd64"
package; yeah, some files were split into a linux-binary,
still the muscle memory remains.

I just installed a new kernel via

    # apt-get install linux-image-rt-amd64 -t unstable

and dropped an old one via

    # apt-get install linux-image-7.0.10+deb14-rt-amd64-

which said (excuse my German)

Please note that the initrd was removed; the kernel binary is still
kept in grub.cfg, without an initrd.
This (probably?) won't work, as my root filesystem is on btrfs, which is
a kernel module and not built-in - and then there's LVM, LUKS, etc.

I understand that whether an arbitrary installation might still boot
without an initrd might be a hard question to answer --
but while it can't be ruled out, the probabilities are against it,
right?

So, I guess the kernel-only boot option should be removed?


A following

    # apt-get autoremove

drops the linux-binary-7.0.10+deb14-rt-amd64 (and some more) but --
and this is the initial reason for this bug report -- "update-grub"
isn't called at that time:

and so the broken kernel-only boot option persists,
and this is a bug for sure.
