Dear Debian Edu Packaging Team,
Dear maintainers of Thonny,

I've forked the thonny repository on salsa and have updated it to 5.0.0, did
cleanups of lintian messages, activated unit tests during dh_auto_test and
autopkgtest, activated salsa-ci and checked that three of the four open bugs are
fixed with these changes.

My fork is at https://salsa.debian.org/plenae/thonny.

Since this is a version update too it is not convenient to open an MR on salsa
due to the different branches and tags involved.

I'm including a debdiff here as well if that's more convenient than comparing
my fork with the base repo.

If someone could have a look at my proposed changes and send review notes or
accept them and upload?

of old packages (python3-pkg-resources)

You should now have the necessary Salsa & Debian Maintainer ACL to proceed.

Thanks. I've sorted the packages which are not debian helpers or buildsystem
deps. So thats all after uv-build.
