With the new kernel update (7.1.8) in testing, the ntfs3 driver is
removed and only the (new) ntfs driver is shipped. util-linux itself
defaults to mounting with ntfs3 causing mount to fail: [1]

My suggestion is to compile util-linux with --with-ntfs-mounttype=ntfs

It was a conscious decision indeed to switch from the apparently more
poorly maintained ntfs3 driver in the kernel to the (new!) ntfs one
revamped in 7.1:
