Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Ran "sudo apt upgrade"

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

I am just reporting that the upgrade showed the following error:

Errors were encountered while processing:
 aic8800-dkms
Error: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

However, I want to warn you that including this dkms package is a bad idea.
AICSemi does participate at linux-wireless and this driver is signed off by
the appropriate kernel developers. A few months ago a community dev tried
to upstream the aic8800 and the linux-wireless folks gave good advice but
the problems were too many for the community developer. Please feel free to
ask the submitter to contact me at morrownr@gmail.com . I run the github
site github.com/morrow and we help linux users with wireless issues and
have dev repos that support upstreaming. If AICSemi would just contact me,
we could get things headed the right direction but until that happens, I
recommend you drop this aic8800-dkms package. You will find it to be
trouble.
