Problem: no field to enter a Password/Passphrase for a LUKS-encrypted drive on a pre-boot graphical splash screen with active plymouth. How to reproduce: 1. Install fresh Debian 13 with: - encrypted with LUKS storage - a desktop environment (GNOME, MATE, etc) 2. install debian-edu-artwork-spacefun - sudo apt install debian-edu-artwork-spacefun 3. activate plymouth: - edit /etc/default/grub, and set the option `quiet splash`: `GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"` - sudo update-grub 4. check that the theme is installed on the system `ls -la /usr/share/plymouth/themes/` - drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Sep 8 00:30 debian-edu-spacefun 5. set this theme for plymouth and rebuild initramfs: - sudo plymouth-set-default-theme debian-edu-spacefun - sudo update-initramfs -k all -u 6. reboot Result: After the GRUB menu, you see a full-screen splash with the chosen theme, but no field to enter the LUKS password. You can only do it in text mode after pressing ESC-key. Expected: The theme should have an option to enter the decryption password in graphical mode. Sincerely, Serhii Horichenko
