This package fails to build randomly.

I know this is really weird, but the failure happens in dh_auto_build:

I've put a sample build log here, made in a machine with 2 CPUs:

However, I've noticed that the failure rate is a log higher on machines with 1 CPU,
therefore I recommend trying GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nr_cpus=1" to reproduce.

Also note: The package has several flaky tests:

so maybe upgrading to the new upstream version available (1.6.8) might
improve the overall status of the package.
