Dear Maintainer,

Would you be open to sponsoring my upload for a backport of this package? I am looking to start contributing to debian, and Helix 25.07 has some new features that I would appreciate being available inside the current release, so I figured this might be a good starting point. If you don't think it would be a good idea to backport this package, or that yourself or someone more experienced should create it, I totally understand, just let me know.

Thanks!
Andrew

I certainly see a value for users in having Helix backported to stable,
but I expect it to be a quite challenging tast due to the fast-paced
development of the Rust compiler and library ecosystem.

You are quite welcome to try tackle that challenge if you like, but I
won't sponsor your work - I will not rubberstamp works of others, only
sign off on works I am actively involved in developing myself, and as
stated above I expect such a backporting task to be quite a heave task
that I am not willing to engage in (in addition to the projects I am
already engaged in).

You are also wlecome to join the general Debian maintenance of the hx
package, if that might interest you.

Kind regards,

 - Jonas

Awesome, thank you for the info. I apologize for what might have came off as an impertinent request, and thank you for your understanding.

Do you think there is anything currently I can do to help out with general package maintenance? It sounds like getting a general understanding of how hx is package would help a lot with an attempt to backport it.
Best,
Andrew
