A new upstream major release of GNOME Shell is available in
experimental, and as usual, all GNOME Shell extensions will need updates
to be compatible with the new version.
Upstream provides a migration guide here:
<https://gjs.guide/extensions/upgrading/gnome-shell-50.html>
and there is some Debian-specific documentation here:
<https://salsa.debian.org/gnome-team/gnome-shell/-/blob/debian/latest/debian/updating-extensions.md?ref_type=heads>
When the rest of the necessary packages are ready and the release team
gives the go-ahead to do the transition, bug reports like this one will
be raised to serious. If extensions aren't compatible with the new GNOME
Shell, they'll have to be removed from testing temporarily.
Thanks,
smcv
We'll be requesting approval from the Debian Release Team soon to do the GNOME Shell 51 transition. Therefore, I'm raising the severity of these bugs. Packages that aren't ready by the time GNOME Shell 51 is ready to migrate to Testing will be removed from Testing to complete the transition. Thank you, Jeremy Bícha
Hi Jermemy, the transition workflow asks to bump the severity to RC only after the transition has started [1] . Please respect the estabilished procedures and don't create a artifical pressure. Thanks. [1] https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/ReleaseTeam/Transitions
