Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where
appropriate ***

Current Apple devices can't be flashed with idevicerestore, they're not
recognized:
❯ root@xav13:~# idevicerestore -e
'/home/xav/Téléchargements/UniversalMac_27.0_26A428_Restore.ipsw'
  idevicerestore 1.0.1 (libirecovery 1.3.1, libtatsu 1.0.5)
Found device in Port DFU mode
  Unable to discover device type
  root@xav13:~#

My Mac correctly shows up as 05ac:f014 Apple Device (Port DFU Mode)
with
CPID:0022. "Port DFU" is a newer DFU variant used by recent Apple
hardware
such as the M5. Debian ships idevicerestore 1.0.1 with libirecovery
1.3.1,
which can't identify this device. Only the current git versions of the
libimobiledevice stack support it.

Please upgrade !

Regards,
	Xav

Hey Xavier,

thanks for the report. To be honest it would help if upstream could make
releases :)

Totally agreed. They don't make their users's life easy.
Want me to open an issue upstream to ask for proper releases ?

Regards,

	Xav

Yes that would be nice. I'll try to check if it's sustainable to backports
some commits or if we would need to do a whole git extract again.

There was already a 3 years old issue about that (by marcan himself):
https://github.com/libimobiledevice/idevicerestore/issues/577
and it was totally ignored.

As simply stacking a comment wouldn't have done anything I pushed a PR:
https://github.com/libimobiledevice/idevicerestore/pull/805
let's see what's coming out of it/

	Xav
