Hello.

This package is stuck at version 3.2.1 since Debian 11 (oldoldstable)

File debian/README.Debian says this is because MongoDB switched to SSPL.

However, MongoDB and WiredTiger are different projects, and
according to "LICENSE" file as found here:

https://github.com/wiredtiger/wiredtiger

it's GPL and therefore DFSG-compliant.

There is even a special page regarding WiredTiger licensing:

https://source.wiredtiger.com/license.html

So: Is there a real reason for this package to be stuck at version 3.2.1?

PASS: test_wt1965_col_efficiency
PASS: test_wt2403_lsm_workload
PASS: test_wt2246_col_append
E: Build killed with signal TERM after 60 minutes of inactivity

I wonder if Laszlo would be willing to look at that and determine if it's
a bug in the code or a bug in the tests, but naturally this would be
only useful for trixie if the problem goes away in the latest version.

Thanks.

Hi Santiago,
I should have asked for its removal in Debian 12.
I think I might have tricked by the tags, those are named as mongodb [1].
I didn't ask for its removal. It seems wiredtiger is not used by any
other project. That is, it has no value for our users I think.
I may update the package, but as noted above do you think it is worth
keeping in the archives?

Cheers,
Laszlo/GCS

[ thanks for the quick reply ]

Certainly not for me. Last time I had to deal with MongoDB-delated
things (four years ago) I was working in a very small startup (now out
of business) and I was using the mongodb packages provided by MongoDB.

Probably not worth in general as well. If you reassign this bug to
ftp.debian.org asking for removal, there will always be snapshot.debian.org
in case anybody (for whatever reason) wants to resurrect the package
and reuse some or all of the packaging work.

Thanks.
