Dear Debian Maintainers,

I am writing to report a problematic behavior regarding the file
associations (MimeType registration) packaged with the pdfarranger
application in Debian 13 (Trixie).

Currently, the pdfarranger.desktop file registers the application as
capable of handling standard image formats, including 'image/jpeg',
'image/png', 'image/tiff', and 'image/bmp'. While pdfarranger is
technically capable of importing these file formats to build a PDF, it is
structurally designed as a PDF modification and arrangement tool, not an
image viewer.

When a user installs pdfarranger on a standard desktop environment (such as
Xfce), the system automatically updates the mimeinfo.cache. Because
pdfarranger declares support for these image MIME types, it frequently
hijacks the system's default image associations, silently replacing the
native image viewer (like Ristretto) without prompting the user. This
severely disrupts the user's expected workflow.

To fix this, the image MIME types should either be stripped entirely from
the desktop launcher's 'MimeType=' key, or handled via an alternative
downstream profile that prevents it from competing as a primary default
choice for standard image opening actions.
