Hi, the ruby-asciidoctor-pdf package as present until at least Debian/trixie used to provide the /usr/bin/asciidoctor-pdf + /usr/bin/asciidoctor-pdf-optimize binaries, but at least version 2.3.24-5 (as present in current Debian testing + unstable) doesn't provide *any* binary (also see https://packages.debian.org/forky/all/ruby-asciidoctor-pdf/filelist). I suppose this might warrant as RC bug, unless I'm missing something? regards -mika-
/usr/bin/asciidoctor-pdf was split out into the 'asciidoctor-pdf' package as that was required to make things cross-build successfully. I'm not sure how to fix this; with the integrated package, cross-build for packages using this was broken, with the split-out package, users will lose this tool in an upgrade.

Hi, * Keith Packard [Mon Sep 28, 2026 at 09:44:10AM -0700]: Ahhh, an entry in changelog.Debian that goes beyond the "Split into two packages" would have been helpful. :) Maybe this even warrants an entry in NEWS.Debian? Any reason why asciidoctor-pdf isn't in Recommends of ruby-asciidoctor-pdf? :) regards -mika-
A fine question. I'll do that and then mark this bug as closed :-)
