Typical self-packaged software with no users published hours ago. I don't recomment sponsoring this.
Hello, The package was published yesterday, so there are no users yet. That is true. It is not a wrapper around ncdu's delete key. It reads an ncdu export, refuses a path when the file changed since the scan, writes the journal before removal, and can restore a quarantine in whole or in part. https://github.com/elestranobaron/ncdu-clean I would rather a recommendation not to sponsor came after looking at that. Thomas
Hello, Upstream git now has a suggest command. It asks the command in NCDU_CLEAN_AI for a plan. The model returns paths that are already in the ncdu export, each delete or quarantine, with a short reason. It does not delete anything. Paths absent from the export are dropped. A user profile, pagefile.sys, swapfile.sys, hiberfil.sys and the Windows, System32, SysWOW64 and WinSxS directories are dropped from a suggestion. They can still be marked by hand. On a terminal the plan shows the paths, the free space on the mounted disks, and one quarantine folder. d deletes the suggested paths, q moves them into that folder, and Enter does nothing. Both actions ask for confirmation and use the same checks as rm. An export made without file dates still works: the date is checked only when ncdu recorded it. https://github.com/elestranobaron/ncdu-clean This command is in git. The 0.2.0-1 source on mentors is the initial release and does not include it. Thomas
Git main is now 6d08fff. This is not a new upload: mentors is still ncdu-clean 0.2.0-1. The suggestion screen shows how long the model thinks, then reads the JSON plan. q or Esc returns the terminal at once. Delete is limited to caches, temporary files, dumps and old update folders. Larger items, including a whole installed program, can be quarantined up to the free space on the removable disk. pagefile.sys, swapfile.sys, hiberfil.sys, a user profile, and the Windows, System32, SysWOW64 and WinSxS directories are still refused. A path that is not in the scan is dropped. After yes, a quarantine onto another disk prints the folder being moved and the files and bytes already copied. The plan stays in the full-screen UI. The simulation, the confirmation and the copy stay in the shell.
GitHub main moved from 6d08fff to b1042fe. Deletion and quarantine stay on the plan screen, with live progress. From that screen, a asks about the contents of the selected directory, n asks again without the paths already listed, and - puts a line you removed back under Delete. f skips the preview walk; yes is still required, and the disk check still runs when the removal starts. An empty plan says so. The journal run id is no longer overwritten by the worker thread. This is not a new upload. mentors still has 0.2.0-1.
I think it's less controversial at this point to close everything, so I did.
