nmu petsc_3.22.5+dfsg1-2 . ANY . unstable . -m "BinNMU for OpenMPI major version step"
hi Why is this needed? Is there any benefit in rebuilding it? Cheers
This is #1102465 . Petsc unnecessarily hard-codes the version of OpenMPI / MPICH it was built against, and forces a rebuild if they change major versions (despite MPI API/ABI stability). The solution is the patch from Adrian and rely on library soversion breaks instead (in Debian). Regards Alastair
In that case, I would prefer if the patch from 1102465 would be applied. But, there were uploads of petsc anyway. So the rebuild is no longer necessary. Cheers
