On my Dell Precision 5570 laptop, the Dell WD22TB4 Thunderbolt Dock
is unusable with the linux-image-7.2.9+deb14-amd64 kernel. I get a
succession of errors like

There was no such issue with the 7.1.13+deb14 kernel.

Same problem with the linux-image-7.2.8+deb14-amd64 7.2.8-1 kernel,
which is currently in testing. So

linux-image-7.1.13+deb14-amd64 7.1.13-1 OK
linux-image-7.2.8+deb14-amd64 7.2.8-1 broken
linux-image-7.2.9+deb14-amd64 7.2.9-1 broken

Well, I've reinstalled linux-image-7.1.13+deb14-amd64 7.1.13-1,
and the problem now occurs with it!!!

Still no issues with linux-image-6.7.12-amd64 6.7.12-1, which
I had installed 2 years ago, with an initrd.img-6.7.12-amd64
from 2025-12-13.

So this could be a bug related to initramfs.

Something new is that various firmware-* packages were upgraded
from 20260810-1 to 20260916-1. When I had installed a working
linux-image-7.1.13+deb14-amd64:amd64 7.1.13-1 kernel, it was
on 2026-09-11, thus before this firmware-* upgrade.

linux-image-7.1.13+deb14-amd64 7.1.13-1, but this did not solve the
issue.

Same issue with linux-image-6.12.111+deb13-amd64 6.12.111-1 from
stable-security.

Note that when I used linux-image-7.1.13+deb14-amd64 7.1.13-1 a few
weeks ago:

For the Sep 11 17:57:04 and Sep 24 18:28:43, there was an initial
failure with "failed to enable TMU", but the second attempt succeeded.
Now I always get "failed to enable TMU" for the kernels I reinstall.

Still no issues with the kernel I had installed in the past:

in later kernels, but that this old kernel did not have TMU/CLx
handling, thus no errors associated with this. This oriented me to
a hardware issue. I unplugged the dock cable, plugged it again, and
rebooted with the 7.2.9 kernel, and everything is now fine.
