Hi,

for several weeks now, whenever auto-apt-proxy is used by apt,
it seemingly hangs on nm-online for 30 seconds.

Calling nm-online directly as root returns immediately with success.

Setting AUTO_APT_PROXY_NO_WAIT_ONLINE=1 works around the issue.

This file has been moved to
/usr/share/dbus-1/system.d/org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.conf in

https://salsa.debian.org/utopia-team/network-manager/-/commit/677cd79028d990e76cd3b9505c4a4b59b934dbf6

and maintscript code to remove the obsolete conffile on upgrades

https://salsa.debian.org/utopia-team/network-manager/-/commit/179df1a8ab7df0663d8178883373c31b59cfbf06

This was in 2018. The maintscript code was removed again 3 years later in

https://salsa.debian.org/utopia-team/network-manager/-/commit/cf3cea148037f9c5ce930a6d44a48be0413427cb

So, my only guess is, that you skipped a release when upgrading and
never actually ran the upgrade code.

The path in those commits is
/etc/dbus-1/system.d/org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.conf

however, the file that stayed behind is
/etc/dbus-1/system.d/NetworkManager.conf

The file was renamed in 2012 (with proper maintscript code to handle the
rename):

Interesting ! I bought that computer in 2012 (and it's still my main PC).
This bug report cannot be any more useful, then.
Thank you for the clarifications.
