Dear maintainer(s),
I noticed that package php-doctrine-orm recommends php-deepclone, which
is not available in unstable.
It can be seen in https://packages.debian.org/sid/php-doctrine-orm :
"""
rec: php-deepclone
Package not available
"""
I think that this recommends needs to be deleted.
In the debian/control I see:
"Recommends: ${phpcomposer:Debian-suggest}"
I am not familiar how it gets populated. I see that some symfony (I
think) php-deepclone extension might exist but I don't find any package
in Debian containing a file with "php-deepclone" in its name.
Thank you for your time,

Hi, That's populated by dh_phpcomposer, part of the package's build process. It reads the composer.json file's "suggests" field from upstream sources and guesses the corresponding Debian package names based on Debian PHP package naming conventions. I also can't see ext-deepcopy packaged for Debian, so I've pushed a patch to the doctrine Salsa repo to get php-deepcopy removed from Recommends in the next upload. Thanks.
Hi Robin, Le Sat, Oct 10, 2026 at 12:38:54PM +0200, Robin Gustafsson a écrit : […] Thanks Robin! I may not have bothered myself to actually fix such issue, keeping it as an incentive to get php-deepcopy packaged in Debian: we even already have a polyfill for it in the archive. Since we’re talking about it, my first approach would have been to use a “Null” override in debian/pkg-php-tools-overrides instead of patching composer.json, but I’m not sure it’s actually possible. Cheers, taffit
