Hi,

I was trying the first example with completing the "cd **" line but this
is not working with the key-bindings.bash file information, I had to
load the file "completion.bash" as well!

The second example for "C-r" works but it's about searching in the bash
history and NOT traversing a directory structure! It would be better to
add the an example with "M-c" (changing into a folder).

Hope that helps

      Dieter

Hi,

Thanks for pointing out shortcoming of this document. You are using the stable
Debian, I suppose.

FYI: Always check README.Debian on your system of your concerned program. DR is
meant to give you a decent starting point and my not be very current with some
details if there is any issue.

TBH, I am not using fzf integration on my current shell set up to keep things
simple. (I still use "mc" to ease typing.) Your report enabled me to check the
situation.

package versions to worry:

* stable: 0.60.3-1
* testing: 0.74.4-1
* unstable: 0.74.4-1

The README.Debian used to suggest skip sourcing until:

But with commit at: cd37ce8d ("README.Debian: update configuration instructions.
(Closes: #1013356)", 2025-02-16) for fzf (0.60.0) it changed recommendation.

Now we need to source

source /usr/share/doc/fzf/examples/key-bindings.bash
source /usr/share/doc/fzf/examples/completion.bash
:
So I think example needs to be updated.

FYI: This new correct configuration didn't work well initially on my system. I
happen to have old fzf binary installed to ~/.local/bin by nvim. This broke fzf
operation. So please check "type fzf" to point to /usr/bin/fzf.

I will update GIT repo. (Stable package will not get fix. Web page is always
kept the same as the latest unstable package.)

I see, thanks for the hint

:-)

$ type fzf
fzf is hashed (/usr/bin/fzf)

Thank you very much

I see, good to know
