the test teardown managed to not only kill autopkgtest, but take the
whole jenkins agent down. (Arguably, that demonstrates a lack of
isolation there, but it's still pretty unexpected.)

On https://ci.debian.net/packages/v/vip-manager2/testing/amd64/76553962/
the same failures take down autopkgtest (which is still making the
whole test fail).
