Hello, I am seeking review and sponsorship for portop, a new Debian package. I am its upstream author and intend to maintain the Debian packaging. Package: portop Version: 0.1.0+git20261014.6772ea7-1 License: Expat (MIT) Section: net Upstream and packaging repository: https://github.com/padovanl/portop/tree/develop ITP: https://bugs.debian.org/1150923 Mentors package page: https://mentors.debian.net/package/portop/ The source package can be downloaded with: dget -x https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/portop/portop_0.1.0+git20261014.6772ea7-1.dsc portop provides an interactive terminal interface for monitoring local TCP and UDP sockets and their owning processes. It includes systemd service and Docker container associations, JSON snapshots, listening-port baseline comparisons, Docker Compose port audits and an optional web dashboard. The packaging uses dh-golang and Debian-packaged Go dependencies. The build and project tests passed in a Debian unstable container with network access disabled. Tests against the installed package also passed. This upload is an UNRELEASED development snapshot for initial review. The changelog will be finalized before upload to Debian. The watch file uses the current version 5 format. Mentors currently reports a warning related to its known compatibility issue: https://salsa.debian.org/mentors.debian.net-team/debexpo/-/work_items/175 I would welcome guidance and sponsorship, preferably in collaboration with the Debian Go Packaging Team. Best regards, Luca Padovan
Typical self-promoted self-packaged software. I don't recommend sponsoring this.
Hi Andrey, Thanks for your feedback. I understand your concerns, but I'd appreciate some more specific feedback on why you wouldn't recommend sponsoring portop. I'm actively maintaining the project and I'm happy to address any technical, packaging, or Debian policy-related issues. This feedback won't be actionable for you.
Fair enough. Thanks for the constructive feedback anyway. Best regards, Luca Il Mer 14 Ott 2026, 23:20 Andrey Rakhmatullin <wrar@debian.org> ha scritto:
