What led up to the situation?
Used to work, but not presently working and
that's been the case for many days or more,
last known working: 2026-08-18T16:08:11Z
not working since at least 2026-10-16T21:05:03Z

What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)?
subscribe/unsubscribe actions, tried via both email and web interfaces,
tried on 4 different domains, both gmail
(@gmail.com and federated @berkeley.edu gmail) domains fail,
both non-gmail (@rawbw.com and @balug.org) domains work perfectly fine
(though sometimes there's moderate greylisting that causes up to about
10 minute delay),
subscribe/unsubscribe confirmation emails are never received on the
gmail accounts (nor in "spam" nor caught by any user filters, etc.),
even after days, but existing subscribed list posting email is still
received.

What was the outcome of this action?
missing subscribe/unsubscribe emails to gmail domains, thus unable to
subscribe/unsubscribe with gmail domains presently.

What outcome did you expect instead?
expected to receive subscribe/unsubscribe confirmation emails

Note that this potentially impacts very large numbers of users,
as there are approximately 1.8 billion active @gmail.com addresses,
also about 125,000 @berkeley.edu (gmail federated, for
University of California at Berkeley).  Probable it also likewise
impacts all other federated gmail domains.
