* Package name : scandump Version : 2.3.0 Upstream Contact: Adrian Granados <support@intuitibits.com> * URL : https://github.com/intuitibits/scandump * License : GPL-3.0-only Programming Lang: C Description : Wi-Fi scanner that writes scan results in PCAP format scandump triggers a Wi-Fi scan through the Linux 802.11 netlink API (nl80211) and writes every network found as a synthetic radiotap and 802.11 beacon frame to a PCAP file or to standard output. This lets scripts and tools consume scan results with any PCAP reader, such as tcpdump or Wireshark, instead of parsing the text output of iw, and works with wireless interfaces that do not support monitor mode. Active and passive scans and restricting the scan to a list of frequencies are supported. Why package it: tools that collect data about nearby Wi-Fi networks currently scrape iw's human-readable output, which is not meant to be parsed and changes between versions. scandump gives them a stable, machine-readable format that existing PCAP tooling already understands. Dependencies: libnl-3, libnl-genl-3 and libpcap, all already in Debian. Maintenance: I am the upstream author and will maintain the package. The Debian packaging is ready (debian/ in the upstream repository, debhelper compat 13, lintian-clean on sid, with autopkgtests). I am not a Debian Developer, so I am looking for a sponsor.
