Subject: please ship NVIDIA's runtime D3 (RTD3) udev rule so the dGPU
can power off when idle
Dear Maintainer,
On a hybrid-graphics laptop (Intel iGPU drives all outputs, NVIDIA GPU has no
outputs), the NVIDIA GPU never enters runtime D3 with the Debian packages,
even though the driver reports RTD3 as supported. As a result idle power draw
stays very high.
System:
HP Victus 16-d1xxx laptop
Intel Alder Lake-P Iris Xe (all display outputs, including HDMI/DP) +
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Mobile / Max-Q (TU117M, Turing), no outputs
Debian 13 based (Pardus 25.2), kernel 6.12.113+deb13-amd64
nvidia-driver / nvidia-kernel-dkms / nvidia-suspend-common 550.163.01-2
GNOME 48 on Wayland (gdm3 48.0-2)
What happens:
After the driver is loaded, /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.0/power/control
is "on", which disables runtime PM for the device. runtime_suspended_time
stays at 0 and the GPU remains in D0 even when no process uses it
