Hello,

This is the same crash as #1116619, which is now archived, so I am
filing a new bug to track it for trixie. I am hitting it on Debian 13
(trixie) with kwin-wayland 4:6.3.6-1, the current version in stable.
#1116619 was closed when 4:6.5.0-1 reached testing, but as far as I can
tell, no fix has been released for trixie. Could the patch already
applied in testing be considered for a trixie point release
(stable-proposed-updates)?

My reproduction:
  - Intel Ice Lake laptop (i915), Plasma Wayland session
  - external monitor attached through a USB-C dock
  - dock disconnected while suspended (s2idle), then resumed
  - on resume, every client logs "There are no outputs - creating
placeholder screen", and kwin_wayland segfaults (SIGSEGV) in the
    same second
  - all non-reconnecting clients (Emacs, xdg-desktop-portal-gtk, etc.)
    exit with it

This happened three times in three days (2026-10-22, -23 and -24), and
in practice it means losing unsaved work in every application. Given
the "grave" severity, a stable update would be much appreciated.

Thank you for maintaining KDE in Debian. ❤️

Hey,

Actually on Debian you normally do unarchive/repoen the bug and update the
found/fixed versions. I've done this.

Never the less, there is already a stable-proposed-updates pending with the
corresponding patch: see #1150067. Did you checked that the proposed patch(es)
of #1116619 fixing your issue? Or do I need to add more patches to the proposed
update?

Regards,

hefee

I apologize. I'll try to get this right next time.

I had not seen #1150067! I built 4:6.3.6-1+deb13u1 from the debdiff
there and it fixes my crash: KWin now survives undocking during suspend
(and the other dock/suspend combinations I tried), where 4:6.3.6-1
crashed in ColorManagementOutputV1 every time. No additional patches
needed for my case.

Thank you!
