#1151958 mariadb breaks mediawiki autopkgtest: Cannot access the database

Dear maintainer(s),

With a recent upload of mariadb the autopkgtest of mediawiki fails in
testing when that autopkgtest is run with the binary packages of mariadb
from unstable. It passes when run with only packages from testing. In
tabular form:

                        pass fail
mariadb from testing 1:11.8.9+ds-4
mediawiki from testing 1:1.43.11+dfsg-1
all others from testing from testing

I copied some of the output at the bottom of this report.

Currently this regression is blocking the migration of mariadb to
testing [1]. Due to the nature of this issue, I filed this bug report
against both packages. Can you please investigate the situation and
reassign the bug to the right package?

thanks

It seems like I was a bit too eager to close this (and only ran the
tests locally on testing instead of unstable, oops). I just uploaded a
-3 which fixes the test suite properly.

I believe the various mediawiki-extension-* and mediawiki-skin-*
packages will need similar fixes which I'll work on next.
