I installed grml-rescueboot on my trixie system. Then, called 'update-grml-rescueboot' which finished with a message like 'Integration completed successfully' (typed from memory). Now, rebooting the system and choosing the new entry in the grub menu for grml does not boot a rescue system, but the usual Debian Trixie (it seems to me something has changed on the screen, boot looks different than before, so maybe grml tries to boot. Than a flicker appears, and after that it seems that something like a fallback is activated, which leads to booting the usual Debian trixie system). How to debug this issue? Help welcome. Holger
* Holger Wansing [Sun Oct 25, 2026 at 10:52:44PM +0100]: As a starting point, what's the output of the following commands from your running Debian trixie system: dpkg -l | grep grub lsblk ls -la /boot/grml Is there any change, when using latest grml-rescueboot v0.7.0 from our github repos at https://github.com/grml/grml-rescueboot/releases/tag/v0.7.0 or our repos at https://deb.grml.org/pool/main/g/grml-rescueboot/ ? If you video record the boot process with your phone, is there anything visible (e.g. in slow motion then), that might be useful to know? regards -mika-
Hi, * Michael Prokop [Mon Oct 26, 2026 at 12:27:33PM +0100]: [...] My fellow Grml core developer Chris just shared his thought, that you might have SecureBoot enabled? If so, the default/public Grml ISOs don't support that, see https://github.com/grml/grml/issues/191 regards -mika-
