php-firebird is a modernized PHP extension providing native connectivity
to Firebird databases (3.0, 4.0, 5.0+). It is a high-performance
replacement for the legacy ext/interbase (unbundled from PHP core in
PHP 8.0), written in C/C++17 using the modern Firebird OO API.

It provides:
 - fbird_* procedural functions (legacy-compatible surface, fbird_ prefix
   avoiding Interbase naming collisions)
 - Firebird\ object-oriented classes (Connection, Transaction, Result, ...)
 - pdo_fbird, a PDO driver exposing the fbird: DSN prefix

Supported Firebird wire protocols: FB 3.0, 4.0, 5.0+ (FB_API_VER
conditionals). The source package builds per-PHP-version binary packages
(php8.2-firebird ... php8.5-firebird), conflicting with the obsolete
php8.X-interbase packages it replaces.

The packaging sources (debian/) ship with upstream since v13.1.0 and are
exercised on every release (arm64 + amd64). debian/copyright carries the
mandatory "This product includes PHP software" statement per the Debian
PHP-license position.
