I request assistance with maintaining the logcheck package.

For the past few years, I've been the primary uploader of logcheck. I
consider it to be a "squeaky package", that is, I pay attention to it
when something's not quite working for my specific use case. But I know
there are lots of other people using logcheck in different scenarios
than I do. This isn't a great way to maintain a package, and there's a
significant backlog of bugs and open MRs on salsa.

The package's git repo is in the debian namespace on salsa, so
everyone is free to contribute fixes or updates. If in doubt, please
open a MR for comment or discussion. I'd invite interested DDs to add
themselves as Uploaders in d/control.

Most of the maintenance effort is updating the various logcheck
regular expressions for monitored programs as their log outputs change
with newer versions being packaged for Debian.

Hi,

I’m about to become a DD (nschodet) and I use logcheck on my servers,
with custom local rules. I think I can help, but do not expect a flood
of changes.

I would be very interrested in having a working macro system, and tools
to make editing rules easier. Currently, I save the email in /tmp and
use it with logcheck-test several times, which is OK, but annoying
enough that I can let the same message fill my mailbox for weeks before
adding the right rule :)

To make it clear, I do not use LLM.

I can start by having a look at open bugs and MR.

Kind regards,

Nicolas.
