Hi Jonathan, On behalf of Freexian SARL, I would like to request a backport of forky's git to trixie. The primary reason behind this desire is being able to use git pack-objects --path-walk as it manages to compress Debian's security-tracker. This is a time-limited request. Once forky is stable, we no longer need the backport. I attempted a trivial one (only touching the changelog) and it appears to just work. All its Build-Depends are satisfiable, tests pass and the resulting packages install on trixie without issues. Do you have any objections to having such a backport in Debian? As git occasionally sees security updates. The backport would have to be regularly updated. If no, would you like to perform the backport yourself? If no, would you object to Freexian maintaining this backport until forky is released? I appreciate a timely answer regarding the direction to be taken here. If a backport is not wanted in Debian, we can maintain it externally, but having it in Debian sounds better. Helmut
