  Description     : libasdf is largely a wrapper around libfyaml but with an understanding of the structure of ASDF files, with the capability to read and write binary block data, as well as typed getters for metadata in the ASDF tree.

libasdf is the officially supported C library for the ASDF file format (Advanced Scientific Data Format) used in particular by JWST and Roman, among others. Work is being done to integrate ASDF support into other existing Astronomy packages, including possibly some in debian-astro such as python3-asdf and maybe saods9, among others.

As such, it will be maintained within the Debian Astronomy Working Group.

I'm still waiting on my Salsa account to be approved to get a repo set up.  I used to have one under a different work e-mail a long time ago, so I just registered a new one.
