Description : EVi, a pre-LLM fork of Vim

EVi is an advanced modal text editor designed for programmers and system
administrators. It is a hard fork from Vim v9.1.0 (Jan 2024), created to
build further upon the foundations of Vim while avoiding the use of AI
entirely.

EVi and older versions of Vim are greatly improved versions of the good old
UNIX editor Vi. Many new features have been added: multi-level undo, syntax
highlighting, command line history, on-line help, spell checking, filename
completion, block operations, script language, etc. There is also a
Graphical User Interface (GUI) available. Still, Vi compatibility is
maintained, those who have Vi "in the fingers" will feel at home.

 - why is this package useful/relevant?

There is an appetite for human-crafted software, and this satisfies it.

 - how do you plan to maintain it?

I will initially maintain it solo, with guidance from sponsors and
experienced Debian developers.
