Dear MariaDB and MySQL Packaging Team,
$ apt-cache show mariadb-server | grep ^Recommends:
Recommends: libhtml-template-perl, ...
This was introduced in Feb 2008 by:
#462265 - dependency for libtemplate-html-perl is missing:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=462265
which says:
"Add recommendation on libhtml-template-perl to -server package,
used by ndb_size"
However, as far as I can tell, {mysql,mariadb}-server has not used
the HTML::Template Perl module for 19+ years.
Changes in MySQL 5.1.18 (2007-05-08):
https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19078-01/mysql/mysql-refman-5.1/news.html#news-5-1-18
says:
"The dependency on HTML::Template was removed"
On a minimal system, installing libhtml-template-perl pulls in an
additional 16 packages. See below.
Thank you!
